{"id":169,"date":"2014-01-09T07:08:15","date_gmt":"2014-01-09T15:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jjkpryde.com\/blog\/?p=169"},"modified":"2014-01-09T07:39:56","modified_gmt":"2014-01-09T15:39:56","slug":"my-last-speech-with-crimson-toastmasters-on-assertiveness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jjkpryde.com\/blog\/my-last-speech-with-crimson-toastmasters-on-assertiveness\/","title":{"rendered":"My Last Speech with CTM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During my tenure as IT Manager at the Ash Center at Harvard&#8217;s Kennedy School, I was an active member of the <a title=\"Crimson Toastmasters club\" href=\"http:\/\/crimsontoastmasters.fas.harvard.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Crimson Toastmasters club<\/a>. \u00a0I served as an active member, participating in bi-weekly meetings and regional speech and evaluation contests. \u00a0Occasionally, I even made speeches to the club.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a video of my last speech prior to leaving the club to move out west. \u00a0The speech topic was on \u00a0&#8220;Assertiveness&#8221;. \u00a0 While far from a model of professional public speaking (this point was not lost on the speech evaluator&#8217;s report), it does represent a significant increase in comfort level when standing in front of an audience compared to when I started Toastmasters.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4TvN1R9ff6Q?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>(Some YouTube video editing still in process.
