\nAs I walked off of the Camino trail onto the city streets of Irun, the foremost thought on my mind was a cold Coca Cola with ice and lemon slices.  I stopped into my first opportunity which was the Errand Nea Kantina.  “I’m sorry”, the waitress said.  “We only have Pepsi.”<\/p>\n

At first I thought I’d miss heard her. Coca Cola is everywhere here.   I caught myself before I lost her attention and said “Pepsi is fine.”   Beggars can’t be choosers. <\/p>\n

This mornings 15km walk was augmented with at least another 1.5 km of just looking for the start of the trail.  <\/p>\n

Not a particularly long walk and not as strenuous as yesterday’s hike but the temps hit 81F at 10:00am and hit the mid 90s this afternoon.  <\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

Irun doesn’t Seem to have much of interest to the tourist.  I say that guardedly having spent half a day exclusively in the low rent district so far.<\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

It is the beginning of the Camino del Norte.  Pilgrims arrive here by bus, boat or plane and head for the trailhead.  From there it is 800+km to Santiago.<\/p>\n

  <\/p>\n

For me, it provides a convenient place to head back into France and begin my journey back home.   Tomorrow I’ll choose either train or bus to Toulouse for a couple days and then back to Paris to buy one of those miniature Eiffel Tower keychains. <\/p>\n
