\"\"<\/a>It’s almost a cliche that the smaller Spanish villages are made up of mostly senior citizens.  The younger generation has vacated for the cities. The Camino is a window on this side of Spain as it follows the farm roads and cattle paths.  It’s common to greet an older husband and wife, out for an afternoon stroll, maybe to the local taberna for a meal and a beer.  It’s also not unusual to see just an individual sitting on a bench by themselves.  They seem to appreciate a simple “Hola” or “Buenos Dias” to which they respond “Buen Camino!”.<\/p>\n

In the cities, most Spaniards regard the pilgrims with curious amusement, something akin to most Americans view of the Amish community.
